NIS - On September 23, Chief MLO Belgrade Brigadier General Antonello Messenio Zanitti participated at the workshop "Role of public diplomacy in Serbia-NATO relations” at the Law Faculty of the University of Nis, organized by the Euro-Atlantic Council of Serbia.

During his take, Chief MLO Belgrade stressed that NATO and Serbia are close partners, as well as that NATO highly values this cooperation, which is considered robust, very well-articulated and mutually beneficial. Moreover, General Zanitti added that NATO-Serbia cooperation is developed through different tools and a huge variety of activities and projects in different domains: political, military, and scientific.

NATO and Serbia are close partners and Serbia plays a very important role in the consolidation of peace and stability in the region.

Chief MLO also pointed out that one of the biggest challenges for NATO in Serbia is public diplomacy, since people often do not see how much NATO and Serbia do together. "There is still a considerable information gap between what we do together and what reaches the audience in Serbia", General Zanitti said.

The workshop was attended by the host of the event and the President of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Serbia Dragan Sormaz, Program Director of the Center for Strategic Analysis Darko Obradovic, as well as the Defense Attaché of the Republic of Bulgaria in Serbia Ruslan Hristov.
