Serbia hosts large civilian emergency exercise

BELGRADE - For the first time in its history, Serbia will host the major civilian exercise called "SRBIJA 2018” organised jointly by NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and the Serbian Ministry of Interior.

The exercise is a result of joint efforts made by all participants, showing how NATO provides security in many different ways, including by helping to save and protect people affected by natural disasters.

The exercise enables NATO countries and partners to train together, thus better helping each other in times of need.

During their visit to Belgrade (Sep 3 – Sep 5), the core planning team made final logistical arrangements, confirming that top officials of both NATO and Serbia will attend the opening ceremony. "SRBIJA 2018” is the biggest exercise in the history of the EADRCC exercises series, with over 800 participants from 32 nations attending.

The EADRCC 2018 core planning team leader complimented the support provided by the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior and municipal institutions of Mladenovac and Arandjelovac. Exercise preparations included a three-day workshop on "communication and public information in emergency situations” for LEMA and OSOCC staff personnel.
