NATO coordinator visits Serbia

BELGRADE - NATO’s coordinator for the Western Balkans Laurie Walker visited Belgrade from June 20-24 to analyze the implementation of the first Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP).

During the five-day visit, Walker had a series of meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the National Assembly, and other government institutions in charge of implementing the agreement that was harmonised between NATO and Serbia in January 2015.
"Indeed, we are very pleased with progress that has been made over the last year. We have increased our cooperation in new areas and continue deepening cooperation that we already have,” said Walker.

During the working-level meetings the interlocutors particularly discussed the realisation of activities as part of the IPAP goals, Serbia’s foreign and defense policy, EU integration, and various forms of NATO-Serbia cooperation within the Partnership for Peace programme.

With support of the Slovak Embassy in its capacity as the NATO Contact Point Embassy in Serbia, the NATO coordinator for the Western Balkans also engaged with representatives of the diplomatic corps and non-governmental organisations.
