Chief of MLO meets with Serbian Defence Minister

BELGRADE - Chief of MLO, Brigadier General Cesare Marinelli, met with Serbian Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic to stress the excellent cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and NATO.

The two sides emphasized that there is room for further improvement of cooperation between the Alliance and Serbia within the framework of available Partnership for Peace mechanisms. General Marinelli particularly emphasised his positive impressions after the recent visit to the CBRN Center in Krusevac, and reiterated NATO’s support for the upcoming Trust Fund project in TRZ Kragujevac.
"NATO Allies and Partners will help Serbia with up to €3.7 million to build up its facilities at TRZ Kragujevac for safely disposing of 2,000 tones of surplus ammunition. We are glad that this project is being launched as it will help make Serbian citizens safer and expand the opportunity for Kragujevac to continue its valuable work in future,” said General Marinelli.

Minister Djordjevic said that the NATO MLO Belgrade is an important link between Serbia and NATO, emphasizing its role in facilitating mutual military cooperation activities.

"We especially appreciate the NATO MLO’s proactive approach and incentive to deepen cooperation in areas that we have worked together,” said Minister Djordjevic, noting that Serbia has made its CBRN Centre in Krusevac available for regional and wider international needs.
