Italian Prime Minister visits Belgrade

BELGRADE - The Prime Minister of the Republic Italy Giuseppe Conte visited Belgrade where he met with Serbian Government officials, including the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić and the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. 

During his visit, Prime Minister Conte also met with the Brigadier General Cesare Marinelli, Chief of NATO MLO. Brigadier General Marinelli used this opportunity to brief the Prime Minister Conte on the role of NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade, activities that the Office manages and the overall importance that NATO plays in peace securing efforts in the region. 

While discussing the importance of Italian officers that work in NATO, Prime Minister Conte reiterated what he was told by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic who expressed gratitude to Italian soldiers who guard the security of Serbs in Kosovo within the framework of the KFOR mission, commenting that this is very important. PM Conte highlighted that Italy continues to contribute to the efforts of NATO to secure a peaceful and prosperous environment for all peoples living in the region.

In addition, Marinelli used this opportunity to highlight the cooperation between Serbia and NATO under the Individual Partnership Action Plan as the main cooperation framework that allows the Alliance to provide assistance to the Serbian authorities in achieving their reform goals, as well as the role of the NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade has in facilitating the implementation of the agreed priorities, particularly in the fields of military reform, public diplomacy, and political dialogue.
