Brigadier General Pierluigi Lodola was born in 1971.

He joined the Army in 1989 when he attended the Italian Army Military Academy and in 1994 he received a degree in Political Science. He was commissioned as Lieutenant and in 1994 he was assigned to the 132nd Armoured Regiment where, throughout different time periods, he served as platoon leader (from 1994 to 1996), company Cdr. (from 1996 to 2002), battalion Cdr. (2011) and regiment Cdr. (from 2016 to 2018).

In 2018 he was assigned to the 132nd “Ariete” Armoured Bde as Chief of Staff and subsequently as Bde Deputy Cdr..

He attended the Staff Course (2002) and the Joint Staff Course (2007-2008) and throughout his career he was commissioned as staff officer at Brigade level, Corps level and at the Italian Army General Staff in Rome.

He served several tours of duty in missions abroad: twice in the Balkans, twice in Iraq and he was also deployed to Lebanon and Afghanistan.

He has received several decorations and awards including the “Knight of the Italian Republic Order of Merit” medal and the commemorative Crosses for the Operations served. 

He is married and he has a son and a daughter.
