Building Integrity Train the Trainers Programme in Iraq

BAGHDAD - Commander NATO Mission Iraq (NMI), Lieutenant General Per Pugholm Olsen, visited the Ministerial Training and Development Centre (MTDC) in Baghdad on March 24, 2021 to meet with the Director and the Secretary General of the Minister of Defence.

On this occasion, Professional Security Education members from NMI delivered a Building Integrity (BI) Train the Trainers programme for MTDC and informed the Secretary General about the progress.

This was a true example of joint effort between Iraqis, NATO HQ and NATO Mission Iraq

NATO BI, located at NATO HQ in Brussels, supports the BI Train the Trainer programme and the BI Trust Fund through expertise and knowledge.

The programme’s goal is to establish a pool of specialists trained on integrity building and anti-corruption measures. These specialists are going to provide training within national education and training facilities in order to support the Ministry of Defence in its anti-corruption efforts.

The workshop was well received and very positively assessed by the lecturers and the BI Team from NMI. At the end of the workshop, the Czech advisor from the Professional Security Education Division summarised the event as follows: “This was a true example of joint effort between Iraqis, NATO HQ and NATO Mission Iraq. We are reinforcing Iraqi capabilities, building integrity and improving the security sector.”
