On 22-24 October, the Prime Minister’s National Operations Center (PMNOC) and NATO Mission Iraq co-organized a three day workshop on crisis management at Al-Nahrein Center.

The Mobile Training Team from the Post Conflict Operation Study Center (PCOSC) in Turin, Italy provided expertise on crisis management illustrating the role of the military in support of civilian crisis management and moderated the discussions throughout the sessions. The workshop saw the participation of several Iraqi actors coming from different ministries and agencies involved in crisis management, such as the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, Ministry of Water Resources, The Civil Defence, the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Center and the Ministry of Communication.

The participants suggested different options to improve the current system, for example the agreement on a national strategy on disaster management and the review of the current legislative framework. NATO and Iraqi participants shared on best practices regarding crisis management to assure a strong and sustainable system for the future.
