NATO MISSION IRAQ HANDS OVER THE NEW EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL COURSE TO THE IRAQIS TRAINERS

On 10 July 2019, 19 Iraqi military students graduated from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Level 4 Counter Improvised Explosive Device Course.  This new course has been designed by Iraqi instructors and a NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) Training and Advisory Team to meet current UN International Mine Actions Standards.  Before the completion of this serial, the NMI team spent the last five months working closely with their Iraqi counterparts, both updating the course and mentoring Iraqi instructors. Through this hard work, the Iraqi training team can now deliver the course without external support.  This is the first handover of a course from NMI to the Iraqi instructional staff, which represents a significant achievement in building strong security training capability in Iraq.
