On 20 July 2019, the NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) Commander, Major-General Dany Fortin, visited the military complex Besmayah. 

This visit was including meeting with the Iraqi Armoured School and the Iraqi Army Bomb Disposal School respective commanders.  Those meetings are organized on a regular basis with the objective of maintaining an ongoing commitment through Iraqis partners. NMI Embedded Teams working at Besmayah, provides advice and training based on the needs identified by Iraqis military schools. The needs change over time and NMI makes sure to listen and understand those changes in order to help Iraq build and sustain more effective, transparent and inclusive national security structures and institutions.
