Iraqi team participates for the 1st time at the international Exercise NOBLE SKYWAVE

From 22 to 23 October 2019, 20 students from Iraqi School of Military Communications participated to the Exercise NOBLE SKYWAVE. Since 2013, this Canadian international exercise brings military Radio Operators teams from dozens nations across the world to test and strengthen expertise in High Frequency (HF) Radio.

It was the first participation of an Iraqi team in this friendly competition that aims to generate a HF radio signal over long distances with as many other participants as possible, scoring points for each successful link. “This exercise represented an exceptional opportunity for Iraqi operators to demonstrate the skills acquired during their training and the results reached our expectations.” mentioned Major Jeff LeBlanc, coach and member of the NATO Mission Iraq Embedded Training and Advisory Team currently working with Iraqi School of Military Communications in Military Complex Taji.

The 2019 edition of the exercise included 180 teams distributed in 13 countries. For their first participation, the Iraqi team came in 43rd position overall, and 12th in their power category. The Iraqi team is looking forward for the next year participation.
