Graduation of the first Basic Instructor Course led by Iraqi Military Medical School personnel

On 7th November 2019, 21 students graduated of the Basic Instructor Course at Iraqi Military Medical School during a ceremony presided over by Brigadier General Michael T. Rawls, Deputy Commander, NATO Mission Iraq (NMI).

Embedded Training and Advisory Team (ETAT) with this school had previously led 3 different instructors’ courses. During these courses, 3 of the senior instructors from the School were chosen to work beside the NATO NMI team on the 4th course in a handover process for the 5th course starting December. “Our Iraqi colleagues worked very hard and have demonstrated a high level of professionalism. They are now able to plan and lead the course and the NMI ETAT can now concentrate of mentoring when required” mentioned Lieutenant-colonel Niels-Christian Emmertsen, doctor and head of the NATO team. This strong partnership contributes to develop a self-sustaining Iraqi training capability for the future.
