Brigadier General Andreas Kühne

Brigadier General Andreas Kühne joined the Bundeswehr in June 1989 as an officer cadet of the armored infantry branch.

From 1992 until 1995 General Kühne studied Electrical Engineering at the Bundeswehr University in Munich.

After graduation he assumed the position of a Platoon leader and the Officer military security in the Armored Infantry Battalion 212 in Augustdorf before becoming a company commander in the Armored Infantry Battalion 192 in Ahlen both located in North Rhine Westfalia.

After this assignment from 2003 to 2005 he participated in the 46th General Staff Officers course at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College, Hamburg, where he was trained to become an officer in the General Staff Service. 

In 2007 General Kühne then went abroad to study Political Science at the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

In 2008 he graduated with a Master of Arts in Political Science and Regional Area Study Middle East.

In 2011 General Kühne took over command of the Armored Infantry Battalion 401 in Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania.

In 2021 General Kühne took over command of the 12th Armored Brigade which he recently handed over in order to assume this position in NATO Mission Iraq.

During his career, General Kühne took part in various missions including IFOR in Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Afghanistan.
