LT GEN SGANGA Visits Balkans

Romanian Major General Florin-Marian BARBU, EUFOR Commander, and US Army Brigadier General Matthew VALAS, NHQ Sa Commander, received Italian Army Lieutenant General Rodolfo SGANGA, Chief of staff, Allied Joint Forces Command (JFC) Naples, and Head of EUCE, during Sganga's first official visit to the Western Balkans from 07 to 11 April, 2025.

Sganga was welcomed from the two Commanders in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, and received an update on the current state of security in BiH. Sganga met with the EUFOR and NHQ SA Staff and explained his intent for the way forward in his capacity of COS JFCNP and HEAD of EUCE.

Sganga had a fruitful meeting visiting a Liaison Observation Team in “Novo Sarajevo”. There he could appreciate the important activity performed by EUFOR troops leaving with the people in Sarajevo.

Sganga also expressed to the troops, of both Commands, his appreciation for the role performed by EUFOR and NHQ Sa in cooperating with Bosnian institutions and maintaining close relations with a wide range of interlocutors, including international security organizations.

EUFOR DCOM escorted Sganga on a reconnaissance flight by helicopter over the EUFOR Area of Responsibility.

Aside those visits, Sganga had the opportunity, also to visit the Italian Ambassadors in BiH and Serbia.

This is the first of a series of visits that LT GEN Sganga will perform within the JFCNP Theatres.
