Undersecretary of State for ITA Defence visits JFC Naples

Naples, Italy – The Undersecretary of State for ITA Defence, Hon. Matteo Perego di Cremnago, visited Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFC Naples) on Tuesday Feb. 27, 2024, where he was welcomed by Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, JFC Naples Commander and Lieutenant General Vasco Angelotti, JFC Naples Chief of Staff.

The Undersecretary visited the Joint Operations Center (JOC) where he was briefed on the JFC Naples history, the Command’s Organizational Structure, the current operations and missions under JFC Naples’ responsibility as the Mission in Iraq (NMI) and the Kosovo Force (KFOR) and the Partnership Programs, emphasizing the collaboration between JFC Naples and the partners nations.

“Joint Force Command Naples plays a pivotal role in the broad Mediterranean area where Italy is the custodian of” Hon. Perego di Cremnago said “It is a military command of primary importance and, at this historic moment, it takes on an even greater strategic value for the collective defense of both the Southern and Eastern flanks of the Alliance,” he continued. “NATO is for Italy a cornerstone of security policies and of the growing and fruitful coordination with the European Union that aims at contributing in an efficacious way to stability and to the consolidation of principles of democracy and freedom. A strengthening of the EU in the defense compartment based on complementarity with NATO and the sharing of military resources will give a precious and qualified contribution to the strengthening of the Alliance and to the vital solidity of transatlantic relations” he concluded.

"It was an honor to host Undersecretary Matteo Perego di Cremnago here at JFC Naples" said Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, Commander, Allied Joint Force Command Naples. "Italy is a strong contributor to multiple NATO missions overseen by JFC Naples, most notably the Kosovo Force, the Multi-National Battle Group in Bulgaria, and NATO Mission Iraq. This year we celebrate NATO's 75th anniversary and Italy's steadfast support has been vital for the success of the alliance since its founding in 1949" he concluded.

This event is an example of NATO’s efforts to establish positive cultural and social exchanges with the external community to strengthen the relationship with national and international institutions.
