QATAR LAND UNITS IN NATO OCC PROGRAMME SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHED LEVEL 1 EVALUATION

Today, 05th March 2024, Alzubarah Infantry Company and Alzubarah Military Police Company, belonging to Qatar Land Forces, successfully completed the three-day evaluation, which led them to achieve the NATO Interoperability paramount goal. The evaluation took place at Umm Hawta Camp, municipality of Al Rayyan, Qatar.

The NATO-led evaluation was conducted by both NATO members and partners (from Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kirghizistan, Morocco, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkiye, Ukraine, and USA) along with the support of Qatari qualified evaluators. During the evaluation, each of the two units had to demonstrate its own interoperability with NATO Standards with particular regard to several aspects, such as Command and Control (C2) methodology and Military Planning Process. Furthermore, both units (according to their relevant tactical prerogatives) showed their NATO interoperability achievement through a combined Defeat and Detain tactical action.

This evaluation not only demonstrated the attained interoperability goals for the two units, but also the Qatari Armed Forces (QAF) Senior Leadership's will to address and support a broader QAF commitment towards a more comprehensive NATO (interoperability and capability) compliance.

Vast Delegation of International invitees and Qatari Senior Military Leadership along with JFCN J9 Military Partnership Branch Head, Col. Michel PIERSON.

JFC Naples Military Branch Head Michel PIERSON said – “Today Alzubarah Infantry Company and Alzubarah Military Police Company successfully achieved NATO Interoperability goal. Such an objective remarkably highlights three tactical to strategical aspects. Firstly, the fruitful effort of both units to fulfil the recommended actions from the past self-evaluation. Secondly, a clear direction and guidance from the Qatari Armed Forces towards the present success. Lastly and more important, the global vision of the Qatari Military Leadership in terms of search for consolidation and further development of NATO Partnership as pivotal element to the broader security.”

The Operational Capabilities Concept Evaluation and Feedback Programme (OCC E&F) is used to develop and train partner land, maritime, air or Special Operations Forces that seek to meet NATO standards. This rigorous process can often take a few years, but it ensures that partner forces are ready to work with Allied forces once deployed. Some partners use the OCC as a strategic tool to transform their defence forces. The OCC has contributed significantly to the increasing number of partner forces participating in NATO-led operations and the NATO Response Force.
