The meeting was in the framework of an annual military cooperation. It aimed to review military partnership activities in 2023, confirm the NATO military partnership programme for Serbia in 2024 and to enhance NATO's understanding of the Serbian armed forces’ military partnership requests, while displaying the various partnership opportunities available.

Brigadier General Dieter KOHL, JFC Naples Assistant Chief Of Staff J9, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the opportunities of partnership activities to build trust, confidence and cultural awareness.

NATO team consisted of representatives from various NATO headquarters, including NATO HQ International Military Staff, SHAPE Partnership Division, JFC Naples Military Partnership Branch (MPB) and JFC Naples Balkans Lead Office. NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade also participated to the meeting to support both JFC Naples and Serbia.

Frankness, flexibility and transparency characterized the exchanges and the quality of the discussions throughout.

ESM is an important annual occurrence for all partner countries that allow J9 MPB and the partners to openly discuss progress under various initiatives and to ensure that our partners are properly supported by NATO through JFC Naples.
