JFCNP HOSTED THE INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP 2024

LAGO PATRIA, Italy -  Joint Forces Command Naples hosted a NATO Infrastructure Management Workshop, on 10-12 Sept. 2024. Representatives from six different Allied Command Operations and Allied Command Transformation commands (SHAPE, HQACT, JSEC, JTC, AIRCOM and JFCNF) participated in working group activities to share lessons learned and best practices for infrastructure management..

The idea of this collaborative workshop originated in 2019 when JFCNP identified a need to establish and maintain working relationships amongst the Infrastructure Management Branches for each Headquarters. The first event occurred in 2019 with JFC Brunssum, however follow on iterations were interrupted due to COVID-19. The workshop’s intent is to share information regarding daily issues and challenges associated with Infrastructure Management in order to achieve and establish best practices that will enable the identification, assessment, and execution of facility maintenance and management activities. The continuous exchange of the information will harmonise and realign the management of infrastructure, facilitate a better understanding of challenges, and develop synchronized practices and solutions.

JFCNP  led discussions on its current operations and practices fostering open dialogue amongst the group as well as provided guided tour of the facilities. Notable were the following subjects discussed: Reimbursement Program, Work Order Processing, Infrastructure Property Accountability, NSIP Minor Works, Security Specific Infrastructure, Host Nation Support in Operation & Maintenance.

ACT provided a presentation on NATO Command Structure Lifecycle and Environmental Footprint Reduction Capability Package that will be completed next year, 2025. This CPP will enable all NATO facilities to efficiently fund lifecycle upgrades as well as projects aimed at  reducing their environmental footprint. This CPP will streamline the administrative processes associated with the submission of NSIP projects.

There is an additional benefit to holding this workshop at different commands, and that is conduct a site visit of the various facilities and infrastructural found at each site. This allows attendees to gain first-hand experiences from the varying infrastructures and facilities throughout NATO, providing a wider range of perspectives and contributing to future Infrastructure Management strategies and decisions.
