Joint Force Command Naples, Italy – Joint Force Command Naples hosted a military delegation from Morocco on 10 and 11 of September 2024 for an Expert Staff Meeting (ESM).

The NATO delegation included representatives from SHAPE Partnership Directorate, JFC Naples and NSD-S HUB, as well as VTC attendance from NATO HQ, AIRCOM and MARCOM.

Brigadier General Dieter KOHL, JFC Naples Assistant Chief Of Staff J9, welcomed the delegation and emphasised the opportunities of partnership activities to build trust and confidence within the Southern Neighborhood. 

ESMs are annual meetings between NATO stakeholders and some strategic partner nations, aimed at reviewing military cooperation goals and objectives, providing information exchange, developing greater synchronised collaboration, and facilitating understanding.

The Kingdom of Morocco's Armed Forces have an Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITPP) in place with NATO which is routinely managed by JFC Naples for NATO in accordance with the Military Committee Direction and Guidance. Both of these Strategic Partnership documents serve as the foundation for each country’s military partnership with NATO with clear direction and priorities.

This ESM has once again taken place in a frank and open atmosphere having discussed shared ambitions and consolidated progress to-date, demonstrating the value of these routine but important Partnership events.
