The NATO monitors were supported by a team of observers from NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and from the 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade who with their attitude, professionalism and expertise helped to ensure that the NEL-2 was a success.
All three units were evaluated in several areas including training, organization, structure, equipment and performance against NATO standards with the aim of evaluating the level of capability and interoperability.
A Distinguished Visitors Day took place on Wednesday, 21 September. Mr Željko Komšić, current member of the BIH Presidency, attended the event.
Ambassadors, Defence Attaches and representatives from across the Alliance joined senior political and military leaders from BiH to observe over 1,000 soldiers participate in their most intensive exercise ever.
The exercise was designed to prove that the soldiers could operate at the highest international standards.
All units met the required standards according to the capabilities declared. They were awarded the status of “Combat Ready” and as such able to potentially join NATO-led operations.
