JFC NAPLES COMMANDER ON ROUTINE VISIT TO ANKARA, ISTANBUL

NAPLES - Admiral Robert P. Burke, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Commander, Allied Joint Force Command Naples, will visit senior Turkish Defense officials during a long-planned routine visit to Ankara and Istanbul 19 - 21 April.

As both a U.S and NATO commander in Europe, Admiral Burke’s visit will focus on U.S.-Turkish bilateral defense relationship as well as NATO collective security.

I look forward to my meetings with Turkish Defense officials, and I am thankful for the outstanding cooperation in the Black Sea with our Allies and partners, including recent exercises that included the USS Monterey and USS Thomas Hudner and Turkish naval assets,

said Admiral Burke.

NATO ships routinely patrol and exercise in the Black, Mediterranean, and Aegean Seas.

I look forward to meeting with the Commanders and troops at NRDC-Turkey in Istanbul to express my gratitude for their commitment to security in the region, and valuable support to the Alliance,

said Admiral Burke.

Admiral Burke directs a combined staff, representing NATO’s 30 Allies, responsible for planning, preparing, and conducting military operations throughout the Supreme Allied Commander Europe's area of responsibility.
