Mobile Team Trains on Comprehensive Operation Planning Process

NOUAKCHOTT, MAURITANIA – The Allied Joint Force Command Naples Mobile Training Team (MTT) engaged with the Ecole Polytechnique as part of their mission, March 1 – 5, 2020

The team of two subject matter experts from JFC Naples introduced about 20 young Mauritanian officers to NATO’s Comprehensive Operation Planning Process (COPP).

“The training is always a good possibility for us to refresh our knowledge concerning the COPP and put it to practical use,” said Chef de bataillon David Abt. “Apart from that it is interesting to have the possibility to get in touch with our partners in Africa and especially in Mauritania where I have never been before.”

During the week, the JFC Naples gave lessons in the auditorium. The theoretical knowledge was then applied to a practice scenario in small working groups under close direction and guidance from the subject matter experts.

The purpose of the MTT is to introduce attendees to NATO’s operations planning process, applying the principles of the Comprehensive Operations Planning Directive (COPD). It is also a practical expression of NATO’s engagement to contribute to stability through partnership and to build mutual trust and interoperability with NATO.
