PRISTINA - Hungarian Soldiers of KFOR Tactical Reserve Battalion took part to ‘Quick Response 2020’, the annual exercise for reserve forces held by the European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 30 August and 5 September.
The aim of ‘Quick Response 2020’was to rehearse the reserve forces of EUFOR and its partners – among which the NATO-led Kosovo Force – in a fictitious scenario, where units have had to deal with developing crisis situations leading to the activation of reserve units to support EUFOR in-theatre troops.
Extensive forest fires, organised crime and humanitarian aid were the main simulated elements posing direct threats and challenges to the safety and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to which international forces were called to react in close cooperation with the local institutions and security organizations.
KFOR joined the exercise with staff elements of its Tactical Reserve Unit, and Brigadier General Laurent Michaud – KFOR Deputy Commander - attended the Visitors Day on 4 September in Camp Butmir 2 near Sarajevo, where EUFOR’s Multinational Battalion and the Reserve Forces performed a variety of operational tasks such as riot control, checkpoints and medical evacuation.
On the occasion of the Visitors Day held on 4 September Major General Reinhard Trischak, EUFOR Commander, thanked KFOR and all partners for their contribution and highlighted how ‘Quick Response 2020’ could provide a tangible and highly visible demonstration of the International Community’s commitment, pointing out that all the planning and execution were conducted with the backdrop of Covid19 which made things particularly challenging.
