JFC NAPLES JOINT MOBILE TRAINING TEAM (JMTT) PROVIDES CYBER TRAINING IN TUNISIA

Story by JFC Naples J9

TUNIS, Tunisia – The Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP) Joint Mobile Training Team (JMTT) engaged with the Tunisian Armed Forces as part of their mission, February 19-20, 2020. The team trained 15 Tunisian service members on the basics of cyber security and NATO Cyberspace Operations. During the week, the JFC Naples JMTT conducted classroom training to foster the Tunisian Armed Forces members with a unified multi-national perspective of NATO and partner nations.

“The military professionals in Tunisia were enthusiastic, well-engaged, and the MTT information provided complemented the foundation of their broad cyber defense knowledge. I would definitely like to provide training to Tunisians again if given the chance,” said Lieutenant Colonel Matthew McAlister. “The professionalism and hospitality shown to us during our visit was excellent, and really exemplifies the outstanding relationship between NATO and Tunisia.”

The purpose of the Cyber JMTT is to share the basic concepts of cyber security, discuss the local cyberspace threat environment and provide a broad overview of how NATO is developing its cyberspace capabilities and how it is developing to operate within the newly-established cyberspace domain.

Tunisia is a member of the Mediterranean Dialogue. NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue was initiated in 1994 by the North Atlantic Council. It currently involves seven non-NATO countries of the Mediterranean region: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.

JFCNP J9 Military Partnership Branch coordinates daily with the seven Mediterranean Dialogue countries to enhance the support, development, planning, and implementation of its NATO cooperation and partnership programmes.
