JFC International Club Holds COVID-19 Food Drive

LAGO PATRIA, Italy - The Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFC) community carried out a C-19 food drive this week to help ease the suffering of locals.

Organized by the JFC Naples International Club and with support from the MWA, the NATO community dropped off bags of items like pasta, tomatoes, canned foods, olive oil, and baby food.

The food drive provided a way for the NATO community to connect with each other.

“It is a heartwarming experience and especially rewarding during this difficult time to see all the different nationalities coming together to help those in need in our host nation,” said Dr. Mitzy Barsky DeAguilera, a member of the International Club.

“We have been overwhelmed by our

community’s generosity and propensity to do something good for others,” said Carolyn Deakin, President of the International Club. “We need to keep this up not only in times of pandemic, but in the future as people try to recover from sickness, death of a loved one, loss of jobs and uncertainty. It will take a long time for people to get back on their feet again.”

The gesture of compassion and empathy has touched Italians who see the group doing something good to help their people.

The collected items will be distributed by Padre Roberto of the JFC Chapel to Mensa dei Poverei in Naples.

“We should be proud of ourselves for what we have accomplished this week,” Deakin said. “During this Food Drive, our volunteers have had many people say that we are doing such a good thing for the community.”
