Humanitarian Community Hosts Virtual Conversation on Steadfast Jupiter Jackal

NAPLES, Italy - On 17 September, key partners from the International Humanitarian Community engaged in interaction with JFCNP COM Admiral Robert P. Burke, during a webinar session organized in preparation for NATO’s upcoming Exercise Steadfast Jupiter Jackal 2020 (ST-JUJA2020).

The virtual engagement allowed for a dynamic exchange of information related to the exercise dilemmas, reflecting areas of mutual interest and benefit and with the ultimate objective of building trust and maintaining open avenues for dialogue and collaboration.

An important aspect of the conversation focused on the integration in ST-JUJA2020 of NATO’s Cross-Cutting Topics – CCTs (Protection of Civilians, Children and Armed Conflict, Cultural Property Protection, Women, Peace and Security and Building Integrity). In addition to being a key element of the upcoming exercise, CCTs are essential for the planning and conduct of JFCNP operations and missions and more broadly to promote long-term, and sustainable conditions of peace, security and stability.

For the first time in JUJA2020, JFCNP partners from the International Humanitarian Community will be involved in the complete exercise cycle (from planning to scenario development and then execution). This will ensure that the training audience is exposed to the same opportunities and challenges they would be faced in a real operating environment, when NATO forces are deployed on the ground and share the same operating environment with these actors.
