Skopje, NORTH MACEDONIA – A fourth regional collective training event planning workshop in support of Regional Exercise 2019 (REGEX 19) took place from 11-15 March.
REGEX is a NATO supported opportunity for partner countries to plan and conduct an exercise from the beginning to end according to their national training requirements.
North Macedonia has taken the lead for REGEX 19 following Bosnia and Herzegovina (REGEX 16), Jordan (REGEX 17) and Serbia (REGEX 18) as Partner Nations.
A JFC Naples J7/J9 REGEX team, headed by French Army Lieutenant Colonel Christophe Le Cerf, mentored the workshop.
Fifty-two military personnel from 17 partner countries, the African Union and the host nation participated.
A staff officer from Afghan Armed Forces, highlighted the participants, the first time the partner participated in the REGEX Initiative.
The fourth workshop focused on the development of the MEL/MIL theory and prosecution of the MEL/MIL process, which consists of the MEL/MIL strategy WS, MEL/MIL incident development and MEL/MIL scripting.
Brigadier General Orce Jordev, the Joint Operational Command Deputy Commander of North Macedonia, expressed his satisfaction for the interoperability between nations and the performance of the participants.
Allied Joint Force Command Naples will conduct three more REGEX 19 workshops followed by the execution phase in 2019.
The REGEX initiative supports NATO objectives by making partners familiar with NATO procedures and builds trust and mutual understanding in the region, and promotes increased interoperability.
