JFC NAPLES, Italy— On 17 Dec. 19, French Colonel François Maréchal, J9 Military Partnership Branch Head, chaired an Expert Staff Meeting at JFC Naples with a delegation from the Algerian Ministry of Defense Standing Committee for the Conduct of Military Cooperation with NATO led by Colonel Lakhdar Alloui, Head of the Technical Secretary.

Algeria is part of the Mediterranean Dialogue partnership framework. Since 2000, this NATO partner has been participating in NATO activities including conferences, seminars, exercises, collective trainings and individual courses organized by the various NATO Headquarters and

by all the education and training facilities (NATO School, NATO Defense College, Centres of Excellence and NATO Partnership Training and Education Centres).

This annual meeting is a key event which allows face-to-face discussions in order to synchronize efforts and identify new opportunities for the future. Discussions included a review of the military cooperation programs and activities conducted between Algeria and NATO in 2019 and planned for 2020, as well as an exchange of thoughts about potential ways ahead. An in-depth visit to the NSD-S Hub concluded this very constructive day.

This Expert Staff Meeting was very successful and paved the way for developing the military cooperation programme for 2021 in the upcoming months.
