JFC Naples Team Kicks Off Inaugural Force Preparation Working Group

TUNIS, Tunisia - A team from Allied Joint Force Command Naples, which also included representatives from the Military Partnership Directorate SHAPE, Land Command Izmir, Air Command Ramstein, NATO Special Operations Headquarters, and NATO School Oberammergau participated in the first Force Preparation Working Group (FPWG) with the Tunisian Armed Forces, September 17-18.

As part of the agreed Tunisian Defense Capacity Building Package, the FPWG focused on the Military Partnerships objectives of Military Dialogue and Consultation and visited a declared Tunisian Armed Forces Operational Capability Concept Pool of Forces unit.

The inauguration of the FPWG reaffirms the Tunisian Armed Forces commitment to NATO, and is central to the implementation of partnership activities, interoperability, and defense and security related capacity-building according to event representatives.

"As an energetic partner of the NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue Partnership framework, Tunisia’s engagements are critical in contributing to regional security and stability,” said Colonel Francois Marechal, Chief of the JFC Naples Military Partnership Branch. “The FPWG is just one of many engagements NATO representatives will have with Tunisia in the near future.” This FPWG has set the foundation and scope for future training and education activities, ultimately strengthening the partnership.”
