AMMAN, Jordan – NATO HQ and Joint Forces Command Naples, in conjunction with experts from the Peace Support Operations Training Centre, conducted a mobile training event on NATO Building Integrity – Transparency, Accountability and anti-Corruption” with particular focus on the operational level, in Amman, Jordan, on 25-28 Nov, 2019.
This was the first Building Integrity training event in Jordan and took place in the Military Women Training Center in Amman, directed by Lt.Col. Abdul Kareem Falah Alsmairat. The aim of the mobile training mission was to provide the Jordanian training audience with an understanding of the principles of Building Integrity during NATO-led Operations. This training provided subject matter expertise for Jordanians Armed Forces Officers to gain an overview of the types of corruption and the risks they pose for military operations and the impact on mission success. The training additionally focused on the commitment to strengthen integrity, transparency and accountability in the defence and related security sectors.
To meet the training objectives, several information briefings and syndicate sessions were provided over a four-day period. The syndicate activities, which were well received by participants, stimulated an exchange of point of views and presented practical situations based on “real world” issues in the area of Building Integrity. Participants thoroughly examined and discussed possible courses of actions to face specific challenges that may arise in such scenarios.
In all, 20 Officers from Jordan’s Armed Forces attended the event, This activity has directly supported Jordan/NATO shared military partnership areas of cooperation found in Jordan’s Individual Partnership Action Plan. More broadly it has also supported wider NATO aims to help build the trust and understanding that will lead to better cooperation in the region.
