NAPLES, Italy – Allied Joint Force Command Naples hosted NATO Support to African Union Staff to Staff Talks February 5, 2019.
The head of NATO Headquarters International Military Staff Cooperation and Programs Branch, Italian Army Colonel Cosimo Orlando, chaired the talks and the J9 Military Partnership Branch, French Army Colonel Franck Faubladier organised them.
The NATO Support to African Union Staff to Staff Talks is an annual meeting engaging staff (NATO HQ International Staff, International Military Staff, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Allied Command Transformation (ACT), JFC Naples, and the senior military liaison office in Addis Ababa) working on NATO’s long-term support to the African Union.
They took stock of the status of NATO / African Union relations, shared information, strengthened internal coordination, and explored further cooperation on related work strands.
The team developed a NATO strategy as part of NATO’s preparation for the upcoming staff talks between NATO and the African Union to take place in Addis Ababa in May 2019.
Representatives of NATO HQ and the senior military liaison office based in Addis Ababa met JFC Naples Commander Admiral Foggo and Chief of Staff Italian Army Lieutenant General Luciano Portolano.
