Story by JFC Naples J-9
LAGO PATRIA, Italy - A delegation of the Japanese National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) visited Joint Force Command Naples on May 20.
Japan is among the Alliance’s most geographically distant partners.
Japan has focused its military partnership with NATO on the three pillars of maritime cooperation, cyber defence, and BMD capabilities.
The thirteen-person delegation led by Yasuaki Hashimoto) improved their comprehension of both NATO and the JFCNP.
After General Portolano, the JFC Naples Chief of Staff, welcomed them, the delegation learned more about three main topics: the structure and routines of the headquarters, its areas of responsibility, and current operations in Iraq and in the Balkans.
They talked about collective security and JFC Naples’ relationships with Partner nations, during which OF-5 Franck FAUBLADIER represented the J9 Division.
The delegation engaged with keen interest clearly displayed through questions and lively discussions.
This short but fruitful event concluded with an exchange of gifts and wishes for a repeat visit.
