BERLIN, Germany - The JFC Naples Chief of Staff and Hub Director attended the Berlin Security Conference on European Security and Defence on November 27 at Vienna House here.
The conference focused on Europe and its external challenges via a 360° approach in uncertain times.
"The panel on the NATO Strategic Direction - South Hub (NSD-S HUB) has shown the need for NATO to create a tool of connection and coordination to better face the challenges coming from the South," said JFC Naples Chief of Staff Italian Army Lieutenant General Antonio Vittiglio.
The conference is one of the largest yearly events on European Security and Defence, and is a meeting place for about 1 000 participants from more than 50 countries, and an international forum for members of parliament, politicians and representatives of the armed forces, security organizations and industry.
The partner in 2019 is Italy and former partners include Russia, the United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States, France, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
The conference featured exhibitions with companies from Europe and abroad and was organized by Germany’s leading independent newspaper for civil and military services.
"The panel on the NSD-S HUB attracted a large audience which was proof of curiosity and attention the Hub is stimulating,” said JFC Naples Hub Director Italian Air Force Brigadier General Davide Re. “I explained the Hub role and activities, stressing the importance of the regional perspective for the understanding of the security environment NATO is living in. The agreement signed by NATO with AU is a landmark of the trust the Hub is building with African leadership."
