NATO hopes to welcome FYROM* as 30th Ally in near future

Admiral Foggo paid a visit to Skopje.

SKOPJE, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* - Admiral James Foggo, Commander JFC Naples today visited Skopje, December 12, 2018.

Speaking to reporters after meetings with Defense Minister Radmila Šekerinska and the Chief of the General Staff Major General Vaslo Gjurchinovsky, he said : "I first came here in 2004 for the Orhid Accords. At the time, our vision for your countrymen was NATO accession, and I believe that time has come".

Admiral Foggo also expressed his appreciation for the professional contribution of FYROM* forces in Afghanistan.

"Your force's reputation precedes themselves, and it's always good to have you on board in NATO mission".

The visit concluded with an engagement with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.


*Turkey recognizes the Republic of Macedonia with its constitutional name.
