ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia - On November 8, a meeting of Ambassadors and Defence Attaches of NATO member countries was held at the NATO Villa in Addis Ababa.

The aim of the meeting was to introduce the assembled dignitaries to the NATO Senior Military Liaison Office and to increase their knowledge and awareness of NATO Support to the African Union (NS2AU).

The meeting was co-hosted by the new Norwegian Ambassador to the African Union, His Excellency Morten Von Hanno Aasland and the Senior Military Liaison Officer Turkish Navy Captain Yusuf Akyuz.

During the meeting, Captain Akyuz delivered a briefing on the framework of the NS2AU mission, the activities on capacity building and the challenges faced.

H.E Aasland, as the formal NATO Contact Point Ambassador to the African Union, provided information about his recent visit to NATO HQ before his posting to Addis Ababa. The meeting provided a good opportunity to discuss and develop courses of action to increase support to the NATO mission.
