NAPLES, Italy – The Turkish community at Allied Joint Force Command Naples organized and hosted its annual event to celebrate the International Children’s Festival, April 27, 2018.
Ataturk, the founder of the modern Turkish Republic, dedicated an April date as Turkish national sovereignty day in 1920. This was also the day that the Turkish Grand National Assembly was assembled.
"We are celebrating a day for children who are the most valuable of all of us,” said Brigadier General E. Erkan Erisen, Turkish Senior National Representative at JFC Naples.
According to event organizers, the purpose of the festival is Turkey’s gift to all children across the world, and it’s a special festival that reflects the good will and livelihood of children, evoking the feelings of friendship and unity.
"It’s also important because the children hold the key for the peace of the world,” Erisen said.
During this year’s event at JFC Naples, seven Italian and international schools from around the area preformed dancing and singing acts. Additionally, there was an exhibition of paintings done by children who participated in a drawing contest for the festival.
