GENEVA, Switzerland - Representatives from Allied Joint Force Command Naples, conducted a visit to Geneva from October 8 to 11 to meet with key civil actors and organisations.

The visit is an annual event that brings together different NATO command structures involved in Civil-Military Interaction / Civil-Military Cooperation (CMI/CIMIC) to meet with selected Geneva-based organisations. The event remains one of the key mechanisms for NATO's contribution to the Comprehensive Approach , facilitating cooperation and collaboration with key humanitarian and development partners.

During the mission, JFC Naples met with representatives from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN Migration Agency (IOM), the World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as with representatives from the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The visit was instrumental to harmonise outreach and liaison activities within the ACO CMI/CIMIC Community and start preparations for NATO’s participation to the Humanitarian Networks and Partnership Week (HNPW), scheduled to take place in Geneva from February 4 to 8. Within the framework of the mission, JFC Naples discussed a multi-year partnership and engagement opportunities in the field of Education, Training and Exercises as well as enhanced information sharing arrangements for activities in JFC Naples Area of Operation.

Dialogue and cooperation with partners based on reciprocity, mutual benefit and respect makes a concrete and valued contribution to the success of NATO's fundamental tasks, defending the values on which the Alliance is based, managing developing crises before they escalate into conflicts, and promoting international security through cooperation.
