JFC Naples trains on Civil-Emergency Cooperation

KUWAIT – Subject Matter Experts from JFC Naples J9 CMI-CIMIC trained on Civil Emergency Cooperation in Emergency Preparedness and Response here from 17 to 20 December 2018.

A total of 24 officers from the Kuwait Armed Forces and selected civilian representatives from the Ministry of Interior (Civil Defence), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Health attended. Representatives from other Armed Forces from the Region (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Oman) also joined the training, which was conducted at the NATO ICI Regional Centre.

The course enhanced participants’ understanding of NATO’s role in Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) during Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR). A wide range of actors shared their perspectives, contributing to the creation of a common CEP framework based on inter-operability and effectiveness of civil and military resources, assets, and capabilities.

Dr. Tarek El-Sheik, the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) for Kuwait and Rosalinda Svobodova from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provided lectures on the UN system and NATO-UN relations.

This JFC Naples MTT activity supported Kuwait/NATO shared military partnership areas of cooperation under the framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI).
