NAPLES, Italy – Almost 100 students and teachers from a local high school spent a day touring Allied Joint Force Command Naples, Jan. 22, 2018, to learn about the NATO mission.

Diana Sodano, community relations officer at JFC Naples, briefed the students from "Giulio Cesare Falco” of Capua, Naples about the structure, mission and goals of JFC Naples, and the pupils were provided an overview of the new headquarters.  As part of the presentation, the students learned about the history of  JFC Naples and its capabilities and then received a Joint Operations Center brief by Italian Army Colonel Maurizio Parri, JOC director, on their activities.

Presentations and discussions continued with the students on a variety of topics such as the role that NATO international civilians play at the headquarters, emerging threats such as cyber security and an overview of the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion's satellite communication activities.

Students were given a glimpse into some of the quality of life assets that community members and their families enjoy at JFC such as the gym, pool and community center.

The visit is part of the community relations campaign to establish a good cultural and social exchange with the external community and to strengthen the relationship with local and regional institutions.
