The fourth Regional Collective Training Event Planning Workshop in support of Regional Exercise 18 took place March 5 to 9,  2018,  in Belgrade,  Serbia.

 

BELGRADE, Serbia – The fourth Regional Collective Training Event Planning Workshop in support of Regional Exercise 18 took place March 5 to 9, 2018, in Belgrade, Serbia.

 

More than 40 participants from 17 partner countries took part along with eight Serbian troops. The group was mentored by an Allied Joint Force Command Naples team headed by French Army Lieutenant Colonel Christophe Le Cerf.

 

The exercise, dubbed REGEX, is a NATO supported opportunity for partner countries to plan and conduct an exercise from beginning to end and is tailored to their specific training requirements. Serbia has taken the lead for this year’s event following Jordan and Bosnia and Herzegovina as host partner nations.

 

According to Egyptian Colonel Ashraf Kandil, REGEX is a good opportunity for partners to meet and exchange experiences. Kandil said it’s a way to unify and find a collective way together regardless of mother tongue, conflicts and disputes.

 

A security expert from NATO’s headquarters also discussed the Alliance’s contribution to the fight against terrorism.

 

JFC Naples is planning to conduct three additional REGEX 18 workshops before the exercise later this year. According to the mentors, the REGEX initiative supports NATO objectives by making partners familiar with NATO procedures, building trust and understanding for better cooperation in the region, and promoting increased interoperability.
