ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Organized by Allied Joint Force Command Naples, an Exercise Planning Course Mobile Training Team was conducted at the Joint Command and Staff College in Abu Dhabi, April 15 to 19, 2018.
Three servicemembers from JFC Naples training and exercise branch organized and delivered the workshop, which involved almost 50 participants from the UAE’s Union Defence Force. The course represented the first of its kind put on by NATO in the UAE.
The main focus of this METT was to explain the logical sequence that comprise NATO’s planning process for exercise. The event covered topics such as concept and specification development, analysis and reporting and product development. Open discussions were conducted throughout the session.
"The course reached its projected objectives,” said French Army Lieutenant Colonel Christophe LeCerf.
LeCerf added that all participants acquired a clear understanding and the ability to describe the process with the interactions between the different steps.
During his remarks, Brigadier General Hamdan Al Zayodi, UAE’s director of joint operations, expressed his gratitude to JFC Naples for its committed assistance to the UAE and to MTT members for the comprehensive course.
UAE has been an active NATO partner country and a member of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Framework since 2005. The UAE has also supported wider NATO aims to help build the trust and understanding that will lead to better cooperation in the region while increasing military interoperability for future Alliance’s missions.
