ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- A logistics Mobile Training Team from Allied Joint Force Command Naples conducted an operational level planning course at the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces Officers Club Dec. 10 to 14, 2017.
The team of four instructors from JFC Naples trained and mentored 30 troops from the UAE Armed Forces on the operational logistics planning process.
The training focused on the roles of a logistics planner at the operational level, and the course allowed the students to apply the Comprehensive Operation Planning Directive principles in practical exercises. The Comprehensive Operational Planning Process is a collaborative process based on specific practices and procedures in order to establish clear links between actions, effects, objectives, and the end-state and, where possible, harmonizes military, political, civil, and economic planning to a common end. The Comprehensive Operations Planning Directive outlines the military procedures and responsibilities governing the preparation, approval, implementation, and review of operation plans to enable a common approach to operations planning at all levels.
Additionally, presentations were given on the history and structure of NATO, the role of the JFC and Joint Logistics Support Group and the principles of operational deployments.
According to event organizers, the traiing team enjoyed productive seesions with their hosts who embraced the learning opportunity and provided positive feedback about the experience. At the conclusion of the course, Canadian Army Lieutenant-Colonel James DeBruin presented the students with certificates.
JFC Naples is conducting a wide range of Mobile Training Team events with regional parnters, including planned logistics operational planning events in the coming year. Mobile Training Teams are a part of JFC Naples’ efforts within the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Framework.
