A Mobile Training Team from Allied Joint Force Command Naples conducted Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) training with the Mauritanian Armed Forces,  Dec. 17 to 22,  2017 in Nouakchott,  Mauritania.

 

NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania – A Mobile Training Team from Allied Joint Force Command Naples conducted Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) training with the Mauritanian Armed Forces, Dec. 17 to 22, 2017 in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

 

It’s the second partnership activity conducted in 2017 with Mauritania in the global forum of the "projecting stability” concept.

 

The team of four C-IED Subject Matter Experts from JFC Naples trained 45 Mauritanian Armed Forces personnel on the NATO C-IED approach to reduce the threat posed by the explosive devices during operations. The training focused on NATO doctrine illustrated by tactical level lessons learned in an effort to stimulate the training audience in developing a comprehensive C-IED approach.

 

According to event organizers, the interest shown by the audience, composed of personnel from the Ministry of Defence, Garde Nationale and Gendarmerie, initiated a dialogue that both strengthened the message delivered by the team and initiated thoughts on the ways to adapt established approaches to the specific needs of Mauritanian Armed Forces.

 

This JFC Naples MTT activity has directly supported Mauritanian/NATO shared military partnership areas of cooperation found in Mauritania’s Individual Partnership Cooperation Plan.  It also supports wider NATO aims to help build the trust and understanding that will lead to better cooperation in the region while increasing military interoperability for future NATO missions.
