AMMAN, Jordan – The NATO Regional Exercise 2017 (REGEX 17) Execution Phase successfully concluded, September 28, 2017.
REGEX is a NATO supported opportunity for partner countries to plan and conduct an exercise from an early planning phase until its execution and can be tailored to its specific training requirements. For the first time, a Mediterranean Dialogue Partner was entirely responsible to lead such an exercise activity.
The 6th Regional Collective Training Event Planning Workshop for REGEX 17 took place from September 18-22, 2017. A combined training team from JFC Naples’ Exercise and Military Partnership branches led by French Army Lieutenant Colonel Christophe Le Cerf mentored this sixth Workshop including 43 participants from 16 partner countries and more than 40 officers from the Host Nation and two Montenegro representatives.
The Execution Phase October 24-28 has been conducted as the Command Post Exercise (CPX) of a Multinational Brigade based on a cooperative security operations scenario at the Jordan Armed Forces Simulation and Training Center in the city of Al-Zarqa. In total 55 Officers from 15 countries, 2 Montenegro representatives and the Jordan 60th Armoured Brigade Headquarters contributed to that exercise phase.
Several high rank officers as such as Jordan Air Force Brigadier General Adnan Al-Ragad and Norwegian Army Major General Odd Egil Pedersen from NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe witnessed that phase.
General Al-Ragad stated that REGEX was a big opportunity to benefit from the various involved partner countries and the multinational environment and expressed his great appreciation to all participants.
With REGEX 17 now completed, work is already underway to deliver REGEX 18 in Serbia, with workshop 2 planned for the week of November 20.
