TALLINN, Estonia - THE NATO Force Integration Unit in Estonia supports the execution of Exercise "Trident Juncture 16", June 9, 2016.
The leader of JFC Naples' Operational Liaison and Recconaissance Team (OLRT), U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Kent Whalen, met the Deputy Commander of the NATO Force Integration Unit Estonia, Wing Commander Mark Attrill, to express his appreciation for the tremendous support during the execution of the current part of exercise "Trident Juncture 16". The support included infrastructure, logistics and transportation and will be evaluated in the NFIU's operational readiness preparation process.
"The NFIU team has taken great care of the subject matter experts from Naples", said Rear Admiral Whalen. He added that the NFIU, which acts under the operational command of JFC Brunssum "demonstrated a high level of professionalism, which enabled the team deployed from Naples to succesfully fulfill its core task: the liaison and coordination between Estonia and the Joint Operation Center in Italy".
The NFIU's main responsibility is to facilitate the rapid deployment of NATO's Very High Readiness Force (VJTF) and other NRF elements at a high readiness level.
Previous experiences from a deployment to Sofia/Bulgaria earlier this year improved the planning process. The timely deployment of the ORLT to the Baltic Region is an essential part of "Trident Juncture 16" and showed the excellent mutual support inside the Alliance.
