RABAT, Morocco— An Allied Joint Force Command Naples delegation met with Moroccan Royal Armed Forces representatives, Jan. 18, 2017. The delegation was led by French Army Col. Vincent Alexandre, JFC Naples branch head of the military partnership division.
The meeting was in the framework of an annual military cooperation Expert Staff Meeting (ESM), and it aimed to confirm the NATO military partnership program for Morocco in 2017 and to enhance NATO's understanding of the host nation’s military requests for support. Representatives from Allied Land Command, NATO Special Operations Headquarters and Military Partnership Directorate also took part in the meeting.
Discussions included a review of the cooperation program between Morocco and NATO in 2016, a presentation of the Military Partnership Branch (MPB) along with its proposed activities, and briefings on the tools available to further the partner’s involvement and coordination for 2017 cooperation between Morocco and NATO. Alexandre thanked the Moroccan delegation for the high level of the meeting’s preparation, and for their continued professionalism.
Participants said frankness, flexibility and transparency characterized the exchanges and the quality of the discussions throughout.
According to Alexandre, ESMs are an important annual occurrence for partner countries that allow the MPB and partners to openly discuss progress under various initiatives and to ensure that partners are properly supported by NATO through JFC Naples.
