JFC Naples Mobile Training Team contributes in the Kingdom of Jordan

AMMAN, Jordan – A mobile team from Allied Joint Force Command Naples' Civil-Military Cooperation Branch conducted a Civil Emergency Planning training, April 9-13, 2016.

The aim of this first Civil Emergency Planning mobile training mission was to introduce NATO military civil emergency planning and to explain mandate, mission and procedures at strategic and operational level. Additionally, the introduction focused on the contribution of NATO's Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and on its staff's capability as networking and interaction enabler for other branches in the civil environment.

About 20 officers from Jordan’s Royal Armed Forces as well as police officers and civilians from the National Center for Security & Crisis Management (NCSCM) took part in the event, which was held in the Directorate of Civil Military Affairs, located in the capital city of Amman.

"We are very grateful to NATO and JFC Naples' team for such committed assistance," said the head of the Jordan Civil Military Affairs Directorate, Jordan Army Brigadier General Mohammad Irshaid Almawajdeh, during his opening remarks, underlining the importance of NATO partnership.

During the syndicate activities, the participants discussed best practices and steps to strengthen civil emergency issues in a natural disaster emergency case study and developed possible courses of actions to face specific challenges.

Brig. Gen. Almawajdeh assured that the Kingdom of Jordan is fully committed to establishing and implementing durable interactions between NATO and partner countries towards a common, coordinate goal, namely facing emergencies in a complex environment. "The Civil Military Affairs Directorate” may become the cornerstones of Jordan’s cooperation with NATO, which we hope will continue to grow,” he concluded the wrap-up session.

The delegation from Naples also had the opportunity to visit the Jordan National Centre for Security & Crisis Management (NCSCM). Its Training Director, Brigadier General Hussein Hassan Al-Azzam, welcomed the NATO delegation and briefed on the center’s capabilities.

The JFC Naples' activity supports NATO objectives and helps to build the trust and understanding that will lead to a better cooperation in the region and promote increasing interoperability with NATO.
