Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from JFC Naples J5 Plans Branch conducted JFC Naples’ third mobile training team (MTT) to United Arab Emirates when they delivered a five-day Crisis Response Planning course to selected from Emirates Armed Forces staff.

This MTT was designed to introduce NATO Crisis Response Planning and the Comprehensive Operational Planning Directive to Emirati Armed Forces experts in this field. The MTT instructed 18 officers on the different phases of NATO’s cooperative planning, with the focus on operational level planning activities, timings, products, mechanisms and dynamics. There was good interaction between trainers and trainees which resulted in some  fruitful discussions around an exchange of points of view based on "real world” practical situations and on fictitious examples. Full examples of Mission Analysis and Course of Action decision briefings were provided allowing the trainees to fully comprehend the work carried out by a Joint Operational Planning Group and the level of decisions taken by an operational level commander during the planning process.

At the end of the course, a graduation ceremony chaired by the Deputy of Joint Operations Centre, Brigadier General Hamdan was carried out and certificates were presented to all trainees. During his closing remarks, he expressed his gratitude to NATO and the JFC Naples MTT for such committed assistance and highlighted the increasing interest that his country has in developing cooperation with NATO.

This JFC Naples' MTT activity supports NATO objectives and helps build the trust and understanding that will lead to better cooperation in the region and promote increasing interoperability with NATO.
