JFC Naples conducts Observation Day for Partner Nations

NAPLES, Italy – Allied Joint Force Command Naples conducted a tailored one-day Observation Program as part of the "Trident Juncture 16” Battle Staff Training, Sept. 29, 2016.

A total of 13 participants from six different Partner Nations and the African Union took part in the event. The partner nations included the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*. Nigeria and Ghana represented the African Union.

Italian Army Lt. Gen. Luciano Portolano, JFC Naples chief of staff, expressed gratitude to the attendees for their participation and emphasized the continued importance of partner attendance at these events.

The observation program was conducted in two phases. The day began with a theoretical session where the observers became familiar with NATO concepts, procedures and current doctrine.  This was followed by a practical session where partners observed daily processes within a Joint Task Force headquarters. This session gave the visitors the opportunity to observe various boards and working groups and to visit both EXCON and Initial Command Element facilities.
