JFC Naples conducts counterinsurgency training in Jordan

AMMAN, Jordan – An Allied Joint Force Command Naples Mobile Training Team (MTT) conducted a NATO counterinsurgency (COIN) lessons course in Jordan, May 2-5, 2016.

The JFC Naples MTT consisted of four officers from the intelligence division, military partnership branch, office of Deputy Chief of Staff Operations and the office of the political advisor (POLAD).

The aim of the MTT was to share NATO COIN lessons gathered from the past 13 years of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan. The JFC Naples officers familiarized the partner students with the latest NATO Allied Joint Doctrine and national COIN doctrine, including fundamental intelligence lessons and NATOs' approach to Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED). Several case studies were presented in order to underline fundamental NATO COIN lessons.

The training provided by JFC Naples was attended by 15 students from the Jordanian Armed Forces at the 30th King Al-Hussein Bin Ali Special Missions Brigade in Amman.

The MTT formed part of JFC Naples' 2016 Military Partnerships activities. Jordan is a member of NATO's Mediterranean Dialogue Framework.
